Pharmaplayers® Graphics
It is planned to include a graphical report facility which will allow you to present suitable information derived from the result of any Pharmaplayers search as pie charts, lines, or histograms, and to display the matching companies according to numerous established benchmarking criteria (eventually to include turnover, number of staff, earnings per employee, etc.). You could then perform a trend analysis on (say) 3 years' worth of historical data, and create tabular reports or graphs.
A step-by-step guide to the intended usage of the graphical report features of PP appears in this document.
Step One: Select the companies to be displayed
We start with the initial result of a Pharmaplayers search, which has been slightly modified as shown below (to include check boxes in the display, together with "Search Report" and "Chart" buttons in the lower left corner).
All company profiles containing matches for the search expression ("stem cell") are listed, and have by default been sorted in descending order according to the number of matches per document. Pharmaplayers treats each word as a separate match, even when searching for multiple words (so, for example, 204 hits actually represents 102 occurrences of the search phrase "stem cell").
At this stage, we can generate a conventional (text-only) search report or a financial comparison chart for all companies, or for selected companies (if only some of the available checkboxes are ticked).
A number of companies to be reported/charted have been selected; press the "Search Report" button on the screenshot if you would like to produce a text-based search report (as detailed in the page about text searching), or "Chart" if you would like to see a chart.
Step Two: Select the parameters to be charted
We have a choice of financial indicators to be charted (all in $US millions):

Step Three: Optionally change the graph defaultsWe can change the graph type, scaling factor, 3-D presentation and other preferences, as shown below.

Step Four: Display graphs (two examples are shown)
|
Example 1: Total revenues, 1997-1999, in 3-D.
|
Example 2: Profit/loss, 1997-1999, highlighting biotech losses.
Examples of PP Activity Profiles are shown separately.
